THE STORY OF JESUS' BIRTH AND FAMILY

WHEN WAS JESUS BORN? - Matthew 2:1 (NIV)
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.".
[NOTES: King Herod the Great died about 4 BCE. If the Magi came from the east, they would have been going westward.]
WHEN WAS JESUS BORN? - Luke 2:1-3 (NIV)
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius/Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.
[NOTE: This census took place in 6 CE.]
WHO WAS JESUS' GRANDFATHER? - Matthew 1:16
Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
[NOTE: Matthew's list differs from the list of David's descendants in 1 Chronicles 3.]

[NOTE: Paul did not say "to his seeds," meaning many people, but "to his seed," meaning one person, Christ. Galatians 3:16, Acts 2:30 and Romans 1:3 negate the virgin birth idea.]

WHERE WAS JESUS BORN? HOW WAS JESUS CONCEIVED? - Matthew 1:18-25
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" — which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
NOTES:
The supposed prophesy, in Isaiah 7:14, was for its time, not for Jesus (about 700 years in the future).
Isaiah 7:14 referred to a young woman ('almah'), not a virgin ('betulot').
2 Chronicles 28 shows that King Ahaz (who received the prophesy from Isaiah) was later defeated — negating Isaiah's prophesy.
Matthew has Jesus born in the Bethlehem home of Joseph, where the family stays for about two years.
They never called Jesus "Immanuel" in the Bible.
WHERE WAS JESUS BORN? - Luke 2:4-7 (NIV)
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
[NOTE: Luke has Jesus born in a stable, the traditional location. The family went to Jerusalem about eight days later, then returned to Nazareth. There were no Maji.]

JESUS ON THEFT

JESUS ON THEFT, AND WORKING ON THE SABBATH - Matthew 12:1 (NIV)
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.
JESUS ON THEFT - Matthew 21:2
"Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me."
JESUS ON THEFT - Mark 11:2 [same as Luke 19:30]
"Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here."

DID JESUS FULFILL PROPHESY?

NOTES:
Since the story of Jesus is either partially or totally fictional, when the gospels were written after about 70 CE (see Mark 13:2, below), prophesy could be “fulfilled” by just adding it to the story — and they still couldn't always get it right.
There is no evidence of a town of Nazareth in Galilee existing in the first half of the first century, even tho it's mentioned dozens of times in the New Testament. The unknown author of Matthew got "Nazarene" (a person from Nazareth) confused with "Nazirite" (one who lives apart and has made a vow of abstinence).

Jesus was said to have been born in Bethlehem to (incorrectly) fulfill Micah 5:2; Jesus was from Nazareth to (incorrectly) fulfill Judges 13:5; his family had to go to Egypt to (incorrectly) fulfill Hosea 11:1; and he rode two animals at once to (incorrectly) fulfill Zechariah 9:9.

“TRUE” PROPHESY - Mark 13:2
"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
[NOTE: This probably refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, in 70 CE. Most scholars think that it was written after the fact.]
THE PROPHESIED COMING OF ISRAEL'S RULER - Micah 5:2 (NIV)
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.
WHERE WAS JESUS BORN? - Matthew 2:1 (NIV)

THE PROPHESIED COMING OF ZION'S KING - Zechariah 9:9 (NIV)
Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
[NOTE: This actually meant one animal.]
JESUS RIDES TWO ANIMALS AT ONCE! - Matthew 21:7
They brought the donkey and the colt, placed their cloaks on them, and Jesus sat on them.
[NOTE: This impossible story resulted from a mistranslation of Zechariah 9:9.]

THE PROPHESIED NAZIRITE - Judges 13:5 (NIV)
" ... because you will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is to be a Nazirite, set apart to God from birth, and he will begin the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Philistines."
[NOTE: This actually referred to Samson, not Jesus (about 1100 years later).]
NAZARETH, NAZARENE, NAZIRITE CONFUSED - Matthew 2:23 (NIV)
... and [Joseph] went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."
[NOTE: There is no mention of Nazareth or Nazarene in the Old Testament, just Nazirite in Judges 13:5.]
ISRAEL (JESUS?) IN EGYPT - Hosea 11:1 (NIV)
"When Israel was a child, I [God] loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son."
[NOTE: This denotes a past event, not one over 700 years later. It likely referred to the purported exodus of the Jews from Egypt.]
JESUS IN EGYPT - Matthew 2:13-15 (NIV)
When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: "Out of Egypt I called my son."
JESUS NOT IN EGYPT - Luke 2:39 (NIV)
When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
PROPHESY OF HEROD'S “SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS” - Jeremiah 31:15 (NIV)
This is what the LORD says: "A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more."
[NOTE: Matthew 2:18 refers to this, but Ramah was on the other side of Jerusalem from Bethlehem. Also, a 600 year-old tale of one woman weeping for her children hardly conveys the magnitude of the supposed slaughter.]
HEROD'S “SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENTS” - Matthew 2:16 (NIV)
When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under
[NOTE: Herod's “slaughter of the innocents” is not mentioned by any historian of the time, or in any other gospel. However, it fulfilled a common story line for religious saviors.]
CRUCIFICTION FORETOLD? - Psalm 22:16 (NIV)
Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.
JUDAS' PAYMENT FORETOLD? - Zechariah 11:12
I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.

FALSE PROPHESY AND FALSE PROPHETS

NOTE: If Jesus had actually told his disciples that he would resurrect after the crucifixion, why were they so upset when he was arrested, and dubious when he supposedly really did come back?
FALSE PROPHESY - Isaiah 7:14 (NIV)
Therefore the Lord himself will give you [King Ahaz] a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
[NOTE: The original word ('almah') in Hebrew meant maiden, not virgin ('betulot'). Also, the context shows that this was meant for its time, not about 700 years later.]
FALSE PROPHESY - 2 Chronicles 28:5 (NIV)
Therefore the LORD his God handed [King Ahaz] over to the king of Aram. The Arameans defeated [King Ahaz] and took many of his people as prisoners and brought them to Damascus.
[NOTE: This shows that the sign of the prophesy in Isaiah 7:14 (above) failed even in its time.]
FALSE PROPHESY - Matthew 1:23
The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel — which means, "God with us."
[NOTE: They never called Jesus Immanuel. The author of Matthew was really reaching when he created this “prophesy” from Isaiah 7:14.]

Then he gave them this illustration: "Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. Just so, when you see the events I've described taking place, you can be sure that the Kingdom of God is near. I assure you, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these events have taken place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will remain forever"

[NOTE: Buybull thumpers often say that this doesn't really mean “hate,” it just means “love less.” Some translations even word it like that (e.g. Contemporary English Version), because they don't like that nasty word “hate.” The original Greek word “miseo” always means hate; it has no alternative meaning. The prefixes for misanthropy and misogyny come from miseo. This just shows how screwed-up their minds are. If hate equals a form of love, how can we trust anything that those translations say?]

We also understand that it wasn't given to control people who please God, but to control lawbreakers, criminals, godless people, and sinners.
